Help for Malika Primary School, Salang 07, Bhedawari Dhading
Namaste.
Yesterday (01-16-2016) we walked to the Malika Primary School, Salang 07, Bhedawari. Some of the young guys accompanied me who is from a local club- named Khun Babu Thapa, Ramchandra Kandel, Bishal Pandey, and my little photographer nephew- Asim Silwal (Bhanjo). It was a long way to ascend but we talked and joked a lot. It did not only made our trip easier but also we shared our personal experiences regarding the development of the village and the process of reconstruction after the earthquake.
On the way, we visited Barapani village, where there are only six houses. That village was totally collapsed with the earthquake and I was so happy to help them with the emergency needs that my friends sent. I saw there people were making the places ready to rebuild their houses but just waiting for government assistance. Then we continued to walk uphill with their special gift of sugarcane. Sweating day with sun-warm and uphill trail...try to imagine.
Place for rebuilding A short easy part on the trail
Come on. Let's ascend through the Saal forest...
On the way, we sat on Chautari for the rest. I was looking for a suitable time to enjoy the sweet sweet sugarcane. But we still had to climb up. So we continued walking.
Resting on a Chautari after walking up and up. Still have to walk
Reaching Malika school, we met Eku sir, the principal of the school, and the management team. One of the wonderful inclusiveness I found there is the women's participation in social works and also in the management committee. You can see here how they are ready to work for the school's development. I think this idea/way of participating challenges the traditional patriarchal traditions. First, we sat in the library room and later, we saw the part of the school for which we are helping. So great to meet them and hand over the financial support donated by Jos from Holland. They promised us that they will do the work on time with good arrangements because after all they will be highly benefited from all the works.
Listened carefully... Making it formal
Oh, what's going on? Looking inside
We make this part...like this Handover the financial support
Then we came down and my companions were served lunch. I thanked all of them and departed.
