Hike to Jamacho Gompa/Nagarjun Hike

Namaste to all. Happy Valentine Day, 2016.

Yesterday, 13th of December. Two months ago, it was our wedding day. It was Sunday but
yesterday was Saturday. We discussed how to make our holiday memorable. I asked her if we could go on hiking to Nagarjun hill. She asked how long it would be? 3-4 hours one way. "Oh My God! I can't do that" was her response when she heard about it. I tried to make her agree with the day hiking to Jamacho Gumba, which is located at the top of the hill. She was in dilemma and nodded with a "yes" answer. Wow, the deal was done.

Sandhya likes salty and spicy things. Here, it is difficult to find a lady, who does not like such food items. Even the men. On the way before hiking, we bought cookies, Kurkure, and water. Then we walked about 15 minutes to the entry point. I bought two entry permits because the hill lies in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. They also wrote down our details and put my id card.

Then our hike began. From the start, she asked how long? and a little walking further, how long? Luckily, she did not see the board, "Nagarjun Gompa- 5 kilometers". Then we walked gradually through the fine stone step route, with no sun rays. While walking, her pulse became faster, I think she used to walk less when she was in her village. Anyway, we walked up gradually.

The beginning of our hike. With a dress, we don't look like hikers.

We shared the stories..sometimes she told me I listen and vice versa. You know, when they speak, we have to be patient to listen. Sorry for the frequent comment.

The trail is all the way up and up. In many places, Sandhya asked to take a short rest but I was encouraging her by praising her stories and about the events she told me that helps to forget about her tiredness. I was saying there is a meadow, my dear, the open place. We will rest there ok? Her tiresome face was a worthy face to see.

On the way, again we had to make entry details to the army men. They took the records. First, I was feeling uncomfortable but it's ok. It helps them to count who came back or not. Good!Good!

Walking a while, the place came for the rest. It was a bushy area but now somebody had fired there and now we can see the new green grass coming out from the mother earth. There are also black rocks. We made some photographs. You know her expression was...Oh no when she saw our destination from down there. But she is my smiling partner.

A sunny day. And this is the only place you can see the sun during your hike, till you reach the hilltop.

I love the orange color. And yesterday, I was walking in my favorite color T-shirt.

We ate little and drank little. I knew it will be wonderful sitting on the meadow with stunning panoramas of snowy peaks, valleys, and villages. Let's go.

As we reach the top of the hill, we went to the view tower, climbing up...up...up. She was smiling to see the Himalayas. Kathmandu valley could be seen as awesome. the green hills, forest, and all the setting perfect. The fluttering Buddhist prayer flags made us feel spiritual. She was taking pictures all around.

Did I take nice photos?

Perfect photos. How could you do that? Have you ever taken photography training?

She smiled.

We visited the monastery, enjoyed the surrounding views, and finally sat on the open meadow. We had something to eat. Come on. Let's enjoy our Nagarjun meal. (The former Royal family lives in their mansion in the Nagarjun forest). Before that, I took some pictures of the mountains and picturesque valley to save the snaps because the battery was running out and I did not want to miss those views.

The snow-capped Himalayas at the backdrop.

                                                                      Picturesque Kathmandu Valley.

Airborne peaks of the Langtang region, playing Hide and  Seek with the clouds.

Buddhist Prayer Flags and the Kathmandu scene.

                                                                                Om, Mani Padme Hun.

                                                                        Mew! Its Kathmandu valley.

                                                                                        Feeling Spiritual

                                                                             Fluttering Flags and Blue Sky

After some time at the top, we gradually came down. Sometimes I was about to fall down and sometimes Sandhya. I could feel, we both got tired. However, hiking down is faster than hiking up. When we came down to the road, she gasped and smiled. With an existing, we walked 15 minutes more and found a micro- hanging micro I like to say. You can see double passengers hanging by their hands than the passengers who were sitting on the seat. We reached home after all.

Thank you for reading.
