Shivaratri festival and Marijuana myth in Nepal

Image
Kailash Baba from India came to Kathmandu to the Shivaratri festival. He says " I feel really excited to come this most sacred site of the Hindus. I am lucky that I have come to the Pashupatinath every year for 8 years. You know, it's very special with open marijuana celebration". "Well. Taking marijuana is almost open like people are taking cigarettes. I sell a good amount of it and make a good income on this day. Nobody cares our business", one of the Sadhus who calls himself as Aghori Baba talks frankly about selling and taking marijuana. Now, the question arises. Is it legal to take cannabis during the Shivaratri festival in Nepal?  Till the 1970s, there was no rule for the hashish ban. It was declared illegal in 1973. So, taking marijuana in any names, like spiritual myth, is illegal in Nepal. If found guilty, s/he will be punished and may send to jail. However, in some cases like Sadhus, generally, dread locked Sadhus are not in the high watched...

Rooms for rent in Kathmandu

When we thought its time to shift, we set off our mission to search rooms for rent in Kathmandu. We live close to Thamel. Here are the experiences we got from different places. You know, it’s really tough to find a room near the place we live (Nayabazaar of Kathmandu) and what we are experiencing, I have listed below. Case 01: Ok. We have a room to rent. But Sunday, a lady had already talked and I have to wait till tomorrow evening. We were there in the evening too. Can we see it, I asked. He showed us the room. It had inside toilet. The room was bigger too. This will be okey for us, I said. Then I will call you tomorrow around 4 pm. He said okey. Then the following day, I called him again, he said, the ladies and her friend will come . They are doing shopping. After about 4 days, there was no curtain on the window. Somebody informed me. I called to the owner and asked if he could give me. Later he said that they are not coming, but his dad has asked for a boy, who studies in ...

12/12/2016 (written) The last week of the November 2015, I saw my going-to-be wife for the first time. Before that I had not seen her anywhere (either on Facebook or in real). The headmaster of my lower secondary school played a role to mediate between boy’s and girl’s side. He knew both parties very well, so we believed what he told about the other side. Before that, my father’s sister and even my sister brought some proposals. They said “okey, this is a very good proposal for my brother. The girl is up brought in a good culture (family background) and has good sch...

My Dad, My Inspiration

Image
Granny and Dad                                           Dad and Mom Fathers day special. I exactly do not know when I started knowing my dad or when I started to call him Dad. Like everybody, I have my own story with my dad along with my two brothers. My dad became dad of 6 children. Sometimes he looked to be furious and wanted us to be frightened, but now I know now it was for our good purpose. For a long time, I did not like my dad because he wanted to send me (us) school compulsively; he wanted me (us) to do my (our) homework compulsively and he always lectured me (us) to become a good member of the society. Since I know my dad, we spent a long span of time together till now. When me and my brothers were studying at the beginning classes, dad took us always to the scho...

Congratulations Naba Prabhat Sewa Samaj

Image
When I was trying to pay for something we had eaten, Navaraj Uncle said: it’s free for you. Instead of this, we want to take a help for the club building of Naba Prabhat Sewa Samaj. I just smiled because we were doing some little little help to the students for their study. You can call it the scholarship program. "I will try for that", I quickly answered. Khuna Magar, Netra Thapa, Bhuban Thapa and some others were there. "We are so hopeful", uncle said from backside as I was leaving there. After that, we got help from Geertje Van de Rijdt (Holland) and later Nadja Meulemans became ready to support financially. You may start now, I said to Khuna Magar. His team searched the suitable place and began to dig the land for the base of the building. Bed Bahadur Thapa and his son Eak Bahadur Thapa of Nibuwatar agreed to offer a piece of land in the name of Madan Thapa, son of Eak Bahadur Thapa who died about 5 years ago in an acciden...

Then how do you manage time for Facebook and the rest of the things altogether? Most people use it while they are in class, working in an office, waiting for a bus or train, party, or any leisure. Due to the widespread technology of the android system, the number of Facebook users is growing radically.   So it's the right time to discuss is Facebook a positive or negative drug? Image: www.ndtv.com In April 25, 2015, there was a big hit earthquake in Nepal. So many destroy were made by it along with around 10000 human lives.
